The Burned Lands (the hocarum desert)

The Hocarum Desert spans many hundreds of square miles, and is the largest single region in Feydwiir. From the desert region in the north, through to the cracked earth of the Windless steppes, and on to the hazards of Felwyn swamp, this is a broken land that was once fertile, many centuries ago. Legend tells of a great calamity that struck from the sky, scorching the landscape and killing tens of thousands. Only the fringes of the region are arable, and most of those scrape by as best they can.
